The body scan will let you know how much weight you need to gain or lose (if any) to maintain a normal and safe weight. You will also be able to uncover how many calories your body burns on basal metabolic level.

What does our Body Composition scan measure?

Fat Percentage
The amount of body fat as a proportion of your body weight. Reducing excess levels of body fat has shown to reduce the risk of certain conditions eg: High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Diabetes and Cancer.
Fat Mass (kg)
How much the fat in your body weighs. Body fat is essential for maintaining body temperature and healthy skin, hair and protecting internal organs. Too much fat can damage your health and increase your risk of conditions (High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, Diabetes)
Fat Free Mass
How much the rest of your body weighs - This includes muscle, bone and water.
Muscle Mass
The estimated weight of your muscle in your body. When you exercise you build your muscle mass. This is important because muscle burns more calories than fat.
Total Body Water (TBW)
How much the water in your body weighs.
Total Body Water (%)

What percentage of your total weight is made up of water. Please note your body tends to be dehydrated after a long night, and there are differences in fluid distribution between day and night. Eating large meals, drinking alcohol, menstruation, illness, exercising and bathing may cause variations in hydration levels.

The average TBW% ranges for a healthy adult are 45-60% for women and 50-65% for men.

Bone Mass
The estimated weight of bone in your body. Weight bearing exercise can strengthen bones. Average mass should be 3-5% of your body weight.
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

The minimum number of calories needed every day in order for your body to function when your body is at rest. Increasing your muscle mass will increase your metabolic rate.

-= Low burn, your body burns calories slowly.

0- Average burn, your body burns calories in an average rate.

+= High burn, your body burns calories quicky.

Metabolic Age
Comparing your BMR to the standard rate for your age group gives you your metabolic age. If the age shown is older than your actual age, then you can improve your metabolic age by increasing your activity level.
Visceral Fat Rating
Visceral fat, also known as abdominal fat, is the harmful fat around the waistline. This fat surrounds the vital organs in the abdominal area.

Rating 1 - 12 = you have an acceptable level of visceral fat.

Rating from 13 - 59 = you have an excess of visceral fat and you should consider making changes to your lifestyle including diet and exercise.

Body Mass Index (BMI)

This is calculated from your weight and height. Check your BMI in the indicator section of your print out.*

-=BMI < 18.5 - Underweight

0= BMI 18.5 - 24.9 Healthy weight

+= BMI 25 - 29.9 Overweight

++ BMI > 30 - Obese
